About the Committee

The mission of the Medical Liability and Health Care Law Committee is to be the "Standard of Care" for attorneys representing health care professionals and institutions. This goal is met in part through the committee's focus on education and skill development of our members, through seminars, webcasts and publications.

The Committee produces two annual seminars, the Medical Liability and Health Care Law Seminar and the Nursing Home/ALF Seminar. These seminars are the preeminent seminars in their respective areas, providing comprehensive information on various medical and legal topics and are well attended by bar leaders and industry representatives. In addition, we produce web conferences throughout the year on focused issues. These webcasts allow the busy practitioner to attend presentations from the comfort and convenience of his or her office.

The Committee's publications are tailored to be relevant to your day-to-day practices and offer excellent opportunities for showcasing your writing and sharing your knowledge. Our quarterly e-newsletter, The MedLaw Update, covers current issues facing our members and their clients providing substantive articles and case summaries. Committee members also contribute to an annual dedicated issue of For The Defense with a collection of articles providing in-depth analysis of issues and trends in the medical and health care law fields, and submit regular articles to the Voice. We are also working to develop a Committee blog. We welcome your involvement in any of the Committee publications, presentations and projects.

Another excellent tool offered by the Committee to our members is our Communities Page, which provides a platform for sharing information about experts disclosed by plaintiffs and obtaining recommendations for defense experts. The Communities Page also serves as a forum for committee members to post inquiries and exchange information and strategies for responding to evolving theories and approaches of the plaintiffs' bar.

Committee membership connects medical liability and health care defense attorneys through a specialized network of knowledgeable, accomplished colleagues. Feel free to contact any of the Committee leaders for more information on how you can become involved and help maintain the Medical Liability and Health Care Law Committee as the Standard of Care for its members.
