About the Committee

DRI subscribes to Jefferson's expressed belief that "trial by jury as the only anchor ever yet imagined by man, by which a government can be held to the principles of its constitution." It therefore embraces the proposition that a well-functioning jury system is vital to preserving public confidence in the civil justice system as a means of resolving intractable disputes. The Jury Preservation Task Force explores issues impacting civil jury trials, including costs and civic participation, forms partnerships with like-minded organizations, and recommend proposals for preservation of this uniquely American institution.
