In a recent Bloomberg Law feature on Florida’s growing in-house legal sector, DRI
CEO Dean Martinez emphasized that attracting corporate counsel requires more than incentives; it demands meaningful value.
“You have to make a value proposition and it can’t just be a discount card,” Martinez told Bloomberg Law. “It’s got to be something of value, and that’s going to be key when it comes to a corporation.”
To meet these needs, DRI is creating specialized, confidential spaces for in-house counsel through invite-only events, free meeting space, and conference policies ensuring attendees do primarily defense work. These initiatives are designed to offer corporate
lawyers professional development in trusted, relevant settings.
Martinez’s comments align with a broader trend identified by the Florida Bar and its president, Rosalyn Sia Baker‑Barnes, who is working to engage Florida’s growing in-house legal population, Bloomberg Law reported.
