Engage with Leaders in Business Litigation and Intellectual Property Law!

Business and intellectual property litigation are being pursued in an ever-evolving world impacted by social media, artificial intelligence, and other rapidly developing technologies. In this fast-paced litigation environment, attorneys face new challenges and pressures both in the courtroom and in their personal lives. This conference will provide strategies for successfully navigating these issues.

What You Will Learn:

  • Tips from the bench for business and intellectual property (IP) litigators, such as how to educate a “lay” jury on complex technologies for patent cases.
  • How to effectively utilize social media in business litigation.
  • The ins and outs of sports law.
  • Risks attorneys face from substance abuse and how to seek help.
  • Recent developments in personal jurisdiction and expert evidence, as well as how to handle “bad faith” trademarks.
  • How artificial intelligence (AI) is disrupting traditional copyright and right of publicity concepts and what to do about it.

Expand Your Network By:

  • Attending receptions and a networking luncheon with co-located seminar attendees from Life, Health, Disability and ERISA, and Toxic Torts and Environmental Law.
  • Participate in sessions regarding commercial litigation and IP litigation, with a joint session with the Toxic Torts and Environmental Law seminar.
  • Exploring Philadelphia with fellow attendees while earning CLE On the Go.

First Impressions and Elevator Pitches: The Art of Leaving a Positive Impact

Young lawyers face the dual challenge of perfecting their substantive skills while also creating relationships with colleagues, current and potential clients. First impressions happen quickly – people assess us within just a few minutes. As such, it is critical that we are strategic in what we say and how we act when meeting new people.

In this interactive workshop, you will:

  1. Learn the formula to create a strong elevator pitch.
  2. Draft and refine your elevator pitch.
  3. Practice your elevator pitch on your colleagues.
  4. Identify the challenges in networking and meeting new people.
  5. Acquire actionable strategies on how to make positive first impressions.
